On the genre diversity of fantasy
Abstract
The article examines various research
approaches to disclosing the fantasy
genre dominants in interaction with other
genres of fiction and cinema. Various
aspects of the polemical perception
of its genre nature are analyzed. The fantasy genre was formed under the influence
of the archaic myth, folk fairy tale, tale of
chivalry, heroic song, as well as the occult
and mystical literature. The tendency
is indicated that the works of the fantasy genre will become the only guide
to the cultural baggage of mankind for
the mass population. New fiction and animation fantasy films play a significant
role in the evolution of the literary genre,
gradually incorporating its structural
poetics into the wide field of screen culture. Fantasy works are stimulants for their
consumers of creative, recreational and
socio-cultural activities. A number of stable criteria is identified basing on the analysis of literary and cinematic sources.
It characterizes the development of works
in the fantasy genre at the modern period.
