Stanislavsky and Musical Theatre

Abstract

The article provides an overview of the All-Russian Scientific Conference with international participation, which was held at GITIS on November 1–3, 2023. The specific plans and basic aesthetic principles provided by Stanislavsky and NemirovichDanchenko were implementing after their departure. They turned out to be an extensive longterm creative program for the generations of creative people of the second half of the twentieth century. Among them are L.V. Baratov, B.A. Pokrovsky, L.D. Mikhailov, I.M. Tumanov, G.P. Ansimov, etc. The psychological realism of the Moscow Art Theatre, as the basis of the deliberate creative process and search for creative images, was reflected into productions by students and followers of Stanislavsky. Over the time, it was transformed in a unique way in the performances of the Russian opera theatre — by composers, librettists, conductors and accompanists, directors, set designers, and singers. This natural process of the development of creative ideas over time requires nowadays understanding. The purpose of the conference was to raise questions about the dynamics of the modern theatre process and the evolution of Stanislavsky’s ideas on opera within the new historical circumstances.
